Part –Time Researcher / Evaluator

The Newark EMA HIV Health Services Planning Council is looking for a part- time Researcher/Evaluator to assist in undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation around the use and delivery of health and support services for people with HIV disease as required by the Ryan White CARE Act.

Specifically, the post holder will be responsible:

*To help plan, develop and implement research and evaluation activities, including but not limited to needs assessments and health planning.

*To analyze epidemiological and demographic data for trends.

*To communicate the epidemiological/demographic trends and research to the Planning Council.

*To assist the Planning Council in the development, evaluation and updating of the Comprehensive Health Plan.

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in statistical analysis, public health, and epidemiology or related field and at least three years professional experience in research, epidemiology, statistics or health planning. Applicants must be able to work with a wide range of HIV consumers as well as professionals.

Volunteer Intern

Responsibilities and Duties

1. To assist in providing support to the Newark EMA HIV Health Services Planning Council’s committee structure. Duties will include:

Assisting in gathering of support materials
Assist in taking notes at meetings and transcribing them into minutes
Reviewing and commenting on documents and reports as needed
Providing other support such as photocopying, reminder calls, assistance with mailings, development of fliers, updating databases, etc.

2. To assist in coordinating and developing the community-based needs assessment and the health plan. Duties will include:

Collecting data and undertaking literature searches if needed
Assisting in the development of questionnaires and conducting interviews
Recording data from interviews, surveys as directed

3. To assist in the development and implementation of Council and Committee orientation and training events. Duties will include:

Assist in the planning and organization of training events being implemented at the Planning Council
Reviewing training agenda, curriculum and methodology and offering suggestions for improvement

4. To help with any other duties as may be requested by the Office Manager or the Executive Director

5. To adhere to all of the agency’s policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge
Good writing and proof-reading skills
Proficient computer skills
Ability to accurately summarize a discussion and noting important points
Good administrative and organizational skills
Knowledgeable of and sensitive to issues that face people living with HIV
Willingness to learn

**College credits are available for relevant courses of study.**
